My classes are taught in a safe accessible way, even for cancer survivors. Please let me know if you are in active treatment, and we can decide if you are ready for these classes. Recent surgeries, may limit your ability to practice yoga, even gentle yoga.
Yoga 4 Cancer is a research based, specialized yoga methodology addressing the specific physical and emotional needs left by cancer and its treatments. Yoga 4 Cancer will help you: maintain a strong immune system, build muscle strength, improve bone density, create self-confidence, find solutions for treatment side effects, and provide a supportive community.
No previous yoga experience required. Chair options can be shown (please let me know if you would like these modifications).
Click the sign-up button to access a special membership for cancer patients and survivors. $5/month to gain access to the Yoga 4 Cancer Video Replays playlist.
Please reach out if you're interested in Yoga 4 Cancer classes - but have special scheduling needs, or want more personal attention. One-on-one packages are available.
At this time virtual offerings only - we will meet via zoom, or if you prefer another digital meeting platform.
This video talks briefly about who the Yoga 4 Cancer class is for, and the benefits of a yoga practice for cancer.
Boosting immunity, building bone, and improving the stress response (feeling more calm), are just a few of the benefits.
Yoga has been shown to very effectively mitigate the side effects of traditional cancer treatments like chemotherapy, and radiation, also effective in improving range of motion following surgeries like lumpectomy or breast reconstruction.
Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation can weaken and affect different areas of the body - the Yoga 4 Cancer method relies on props to modify the practice and make it safe for you. It is not a chair yoga practice, or a restorative yoga practice - we will move and breathe, and increase heart rate in classes. This video is designed to show you the props we will be using in the Y4C classes, and how to use them. I recommend watching this video before you take a video class with me.
This 20 minute class is a condensed version of the 60 minute classes that I typically offer to individuals or groups. This class can be done as a short practice, or as a preview to the style and intensity of the Y4C method.
Props needed: a chair and a pillow or yoga bolster.
